My Perth Days

Perth- To many people, it might sound like a boring place. To me, its the best place i have been so far. I have been staying there for more than 6 years. Now i am back in Kuching but still miss the Perth Days. So i what i normally do in Perth- a place that others said boring?

Night Shot of Perth

Night Shot of Perth

College(2000)/Uni (2001-2005) time, i go college/Uni in the morning till afternoon. Then play basketball in the evening from 4pm till 6-7PM. In summer i will start playing from 6pm till 8 somethingPM due to the hot weather and longer DAY time. Winter, i will play from 3pm till 5pm..then its pretty dark by that time (shorter DAY time). Then Thursday evening i will go shopping. Most of the time i enjoy shopping alone. I always shop very quick. Walked into the shops that i usually go. EB- Electronic Boutique where sells all the video games and cool gadgets. Target- place like Parkson but cooler. Myer- Place like Parkson Pavilion KL. David Jones- Place like Parkson Starhill KL (if there is one). Harvey Norman is my favorite! Then Footlocker- 100 times better version of Lea Center, Footlocker sells ORIGINAL sport SHOES! Then i go to FITNESS first during weekdays i dont play basketball. I go watch movie at Hoyts-100000 times better than Stars. Dont you agree?? These are what i did during school days.

During late Uni days (2003-05) then i started to be active in Church. I sang, i danced and ACTED! I love those time. The greatest thing in Perth beside meeting my lovely wife is BBQ! I love BBQ at home, at park, at friends house. The weather is superb, the grass and roads are so clean that you can sleep anytime you want (check got dog poos first, but usually the owner of the dog will clean it. Thats how responsible they are.)

Malaysians are RICH!

Undeniable that Malaysian are RICH dont you think so? We are all RICH, just that some are RICHER, some are “MORE” RICHER! Why i say so? I will tell you why. Straight to the point. For an average Malaysian’s monthly earning is RM1500 – RM2000. For that range is consider “average” and lots of them complaint “NOT ENOUGH TO USE LO”. I truly agree with that. We have 4 necessities to fulfill (clothing衣 , food食 , shelter住 , transport行). Malaysian can spend alot in some ways.

I will take RM1500 income as example.

Clothing, food wont be much problem for RM1500 income. But shelter and transport are something to worry us about. But RM1500-2000 actually can buy lots of things! More.

Shelter:

Nowadays everything has increased in cost and price. Everything gone up but only salary is stagnant. How are we going to buy a house? Then you to look for bank to help. So banks are so generous to offer their help. With flexible home loans, almost everyone can pay and own a house! DOWNSIDE is you will pay a very long long time to actually own the house. The loan will be refinanced and continue to be settled by son then grandson and great grand son… when there is an imbalance of the income and cost of living. Then it will be a cycle of life. You work and pay loans. We cant just blame government, we cant blame why boss cant give us higher salary because Malaysia is not as productive as other countries. Nearest example, Singapore. They dont have resources as we have, but they can outperformed us HELL lot! Why? I will explain later.

Transportation:

Most of the average income Malaysian will own a Produa or Proton as their first car. The reason is they are cheap! Cheap? Did you mention cheap? Yes its cheaper than imported cars, but its still very expensive! For RM1.5k income you have to pay 350-450 ringgit per month to get a Kancil that cost around RM23,000.00.

In Australia, AUD1,500 is a salary that pay to someone to wash dishes. Who works 5 days a weeks, 8 hours per day and AUD10.00 an hour (i heard that employee can sue the employer for paying anything below than that on normal cases). With AUD 23,000.00 you can actually buy a brand new CIVIC.

HONDA CIVIC

HONDA CIVIC

But normally with AUD1500, people will get a car around AUD12-15000. Nissan Micra at AUD14,999 in Malaysia it cost more than RM90,000 for a recon car (refurbished imported 2nd hand car).

Nissan Micra

Nissan Micra

So you see the big difference? We earn same “value” of money, but spend TWICE as much as them. Arent we “rich”? Even buying our national brand is already so expensive. Why all these happen?  AP and duty TAX is why. Why we need AP for cars? If there is AP then why Duty Tax so high? So, i was told that mostly AP which is Approved Permit to import cars. One AP one car. So many of our local friend (Malays) has the AP. They sit there doing nothing and sell APs to chinese who wanna do business. Each AP is RM35,000 to RM45,000.00. So your car will be extra RM35000 more expensive excluding the TAX! Wow… why some get so much AP and chinese get little or NONE? This one you find out yourself. I dont want to get disappear for days.

Corruption:

We maintain the standard! We are better than Vietnam and Indonesia! (being very sarcastic)

Corruption Ranking

Corruption Ranking

I got this from Local paper. Also available more here.

Corruption definitely will kill a county. If your country is number is corruption, meaning “including table” instead of “under table” corruption then you can see how weak the currency and economy is. If our country is like Sweden or Singapore that CLEAN, with the rich resources we have, we can do much better than any countries in Asia. We can be better than Hong Kong. So corruption act as a black hole. All our hard earn money paid to tax then SUCKED into black hole when the minister of Government department involve in corruption. For example, building a fly over or Airport or Highway, one might cost RM400 million (actual) then the minister award it to contractor (the “brother” AKA kawan) RM1billion then share together of the profit. Then our Tax all goes there. So we have no money to upgrade other facilities and develop other states in Malaysia. This is just one of the example. If you want to know more, you can always Google it yourself. I am not a politic blogger and will not be one, just wanna share why our country after so many years still like a” toddler” in economy. In newspaper everyday, our ministers still “lie” here and there, say you lousy, i clever. Then say our own national car suck, yet duty tax and AP so high till not everyone can buy imported cars. Then say who who “chicken rape” who who, then doctor found out something, then disappeared. Police found drugs and pirated dvds then disappeared when going to court. Fire fighting engines never serviced and not working well when needed. Where are our rights? Our money? We pay so much tax and yet the road condition SUCK. Even a place where teaches new generation of education and morales also got corruption!

Hope i dont get myself into any trouble of pointing out these facts.

D.O.T.A

My first experience with DOTA was few months back. Yeah, DOTA has been around for ages, but i started to pick up when i started to use my office LAN. Then the nightmare began…. i cant stopped myself from playing it… addicted deeply till my wife was pissed off with me. Then i stopped and deleted all the DOTA games in my laptop and Imac. After few months of DOTA droughts then i started to play again when i found out i actually didnt delete my macbook pro’s DOTA. Again, nightmare continued… till tonight (23 September 2008) i announce that i cut myself off DOTA. NO more DOTA. I deleted my Imac DOTA then my macbook pro. For my wife, Chloe and myself. Wasting my time playing only (saying “relaxing” when playing is the worst excuse) I dont want my Chloe first pick up DOTA line than saying PA pa…i dont want her to say “our alliance base under attack” or “Vendashuci”… i want PA pa and Ma ma… So i decided to stop it. Here i would also like to tell my wife how much i love her and Ah B (Chloe). Daddy wont play DOTA again. Promise^_^

Memory lane

Have any of you watched a chinese movie name “新难兄难弟“? Its by Tony Leung梁朝伟 (son),Tony Leung梁家辉(dad),刘嘉玲(mom) and other famous HK actors.

He aint heavy, He is my father.

He aint heavy, He is my father.

I love that movie (watched over and over) because it is a love story with fatherly, brotherly love story and sci fi theme. How does it blend together? The show started as Tony Leung was a young man that dislike his parents alot, always think they are annoying, always quarrel and nag  him. So one night (Mooncake festival) he accidentally fell into a drain hole and went unconscious. When he woke up, he found himself back to the 60s or 70s. Then he met a few cool guys and some pretty girls with retro costumes and high wax hairs. As he get to know them better, he actually found out one of the cool guys and pretty girls are actually his young parents who havent starting to date each other, also realize that he is back to the time when he can actually change the history. In the movie, there are lots of the funny scenes. Interestingly, he actually met the young 李家成 and told him to invest money in rubber trees and properties (thats how he makes huge fortune in actual). So in the movie, Tony finally understand why his father behave the way he treated Tony. He befriend with his young father and started to admire and proud of his young father. I love the movie theme song, “Tell Laura i love her! tell Laura i need her…” till now i still can sing the song. For those havent seen this old movie, please grab a Dvd or Vcd, its worth it. Really, i give it 10/10! Oh yeah, in the movie there is a lane name Memory Lane.
